The Rheinauen between Mainz and Bingen is a unique protected area that not only offers a habitat for many animal and plant species, but also serves as a recreational area for the people of the region. For almost 25 years, the NABU Center Rheinauen has been informing visitors about the importance of nature reserves and implementing various visitor management measures. As part of the "Natural Heritage Inselrhein" project, which is funded by the EU and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Naturerbe Inselrhein information point was established. The information point consists of a small exhibition that is run by volunteers. They are also available for questions and tours of the NABU AuenLand site. Furthermore, the Natural Heritage Inselrhein app was developed as part of the project. For the first time in Rhineland-Palatinate, nature lovers are informed about a protected area in a modern way.The app includes an interactive map to get to know the area better and point out points of interest during a visit. You will receive information about the habitats and the animal and plant species that have settled there. If you would like to get involved in conservation yourself, you will find incentives and contact information in the app.
